easyJet is one of Europe’s fastest growing low-cost airlines and it offers its passengers a robust onboard retailing program with gategroup companies as partners. The relationship follows the concession model in which gategroup manages the onboard business and pays the airline a commission in a partnership where both parties work closely together. gategroup brands Gate Aviation, Gate Gourmet, deSter, Pourshins, and Supplair, all contribute to the program, managed by a dedicated subsidiary, Gate Total Solutions (GTS). Working with easyJet, GTS designs and buys the product range. Supplair handles supply and logistics for crew meals and the retail food offering. deSter offers consumable products such as glasses, cups, stirrers, etc., while Pourshins provides central warehousing and distribution for the full product range. Gate Aviation and Gate Gourmet do the bar packing and make the deliveries to the aircraft. Everything from a wide variety of appealing foods and beverages to lottery fun cards and train tickets to items from top-selling brands such as Armani, Guess and Dior. Gulliver Bear, an easyJet-branded stuffed toy, is a popular seller with an ever-growing wardrobe. easyJet specializes in short-haul, low-cost, all-economy cabin service, and the onboard retailing program involves 170 aircraft at 19 bases in six countries Flight attendants collect payment by cash, credit card and some debit cards, foreign currency and easyJet’s own vouchers through the use of electronic point-of-sale technology. The handheld point-of-sale unit automatically uploads sales data into back-office systems to maximize revenue and shrink administrative costs. easyJet and GTS jointly market the onboard retailing concept across the passenger’s entire journey – from booking and pre- and post-departure emails to in-flight brochures and seatback advertising and ads in the onboard entertainment To learn more about how Gate Aviation can help you meet your business needs, please contact us. |
